Want to have a dreamy vacation or romantic escape in a cozy A-frame cabin nestled among gorgeous sweet-smelling pine tree's? Then you need to check out this cute home located in the charming village of Idyllwild! Don't know where Idyllwild is? That's a good thing! Unlike the more busier mountain towns such as Big Bear, Idyllwild has a much slower pace and relaxing atmosphere which is ideal if you're looking for a place to unwind.
Idyllwild is located in the San Jacinto Mountains only a mere two hour drive from Los Angeles or San Diego so even a short weekend trip is possible! See how to spend a weekend getaway to Idyllwild. This quaint town has something to offer everyone; for outdoor lovers there are plenty of hiking and mountain bike trails, a nice selection of restaurants for foodies and many art galleries to peruse. They even have a brewery and small movie theatre!
How to make your trip to Idyllwild extra special...
Idyllwild has quite a few vacation homes on offer but we had decided we were particularly keen to find an A-frame cabin... because who doesn't love an A-frame cabin in the woods?! There's something about these cabins that conjure images of cozy winter retreats and being amongst nature, well to me it does anyway. This tiny home stood out for us in particular because of the huge windows in the front. I love wall to wall windows, especially in beautiful settings such as this where you can still enjoy the outdoors from inside. It's almost like camping but with all the amenities... you could almost call this glamping? Either way, this vacation home was an amazing experience and if you keep reading I'll tell you why we loved it so much. Our cabin was called 'Idyllcreek' which we found on the Experience Idyllwild website.
Why we loved our stay at the Idyllcreek a-frame cabin...
There's a lot to love about this cabin but I have to say its setting was especially special! It is literally built under tall pine tree's. In fact, the front deck is built around one and the hot tub is situated right beside it. If you are a nature lover, you will fall in love with this place! From both bedrooms upstairs you can lay in bed and watch the birds and squirrels climb up the tree's unaware you are observing them.
Here are some other features of the Idyllcreek cabin we loved:
The Outdoor Fireplace!
This outdoor fireplace made our stay! See what I mean about feeling like we were camping? The front deck was fun to spend the evenings and you can even hop in the hot tub if you're feeling like you might need a relaxing soak.
The Back Deck!
The back deck was a nice area to enjoy a morning coffee or an afternoon beer. There is also a barbeque if you want to grill up a couple of hamburgers. We brought our own Mexican blankets for added coziness.
The kitchen has a lot of light (as you can see) and everything you might need to cook up any meal. There are plenty of plates and cutlery if you plan on entertaining visitors and the owners even keep the pantry stocked incase you run out of anything! As a bonus, they have a park pass if you plan on venturing out to hike.
I've always wanted to sleep in an A-frame cabin so this bedroom was an awesome experience for me! It almost felt like sleeping in a tree house with all the wood and that huge window. And yes, I brought my own fairy lights for added atmosphere. I am obsessed with these lights! You can get the exact string lights in this picture here.
The bathroom was cute and the owners provide mini toiletries that are a nice gesture. The pebble finish on the shower walls and floor make it feel like the outdoors are being brought in.
The cabin has two bedrooms; both with a gas fireplace perfect for a cozy winter getaway, two bathrooms, kitchen with everything you need, an office (just incase complete with desktop and printer), wifi, cable tv, barbeque and hot tub. There is also a wood-burning stove in the living area and almost a whole library's worth of books. The cabin is within walking distance to all the stores and restaurants in town.
Our stay was an absolute delight and honestly we never wanted to leave! We enjoyed the cabin so much we barely left it on our two night stay. Idyllwild was a pleasure to visit and this cabin played a huge part in that. If you are looking for a place to spend a relaxing weekend away, a romantic destination or somewhere to enjoy the outdoors then take a trip to Idyllwild and book a stay at the Idyllcreek A-frame Cabin. We will definitely be back!
