1. Grand Canyon
This colorful gorge carved out by the Colorado river is one of the seven wonders of the world and on everyone's bucket list! There are plenty of adventures to be had here; you can take on the grueling hike to the valley floor, go white water rafting, organize a mule/camping trip, or just take in the vista from above. It get's very busy here in the summer and hotels and campsites do book out early so plan you visit well in advance.
2. Glen Canyon Dam
Glen Canyon Dam is a concrete arch dam on the Colorado River near the town of Page. Stop by the visitors center to learn about the construction and history of the dam. You can also organize a tour of the dam from here and get more information about other local attractions.
3. Antelope Canyon
A slot canyon is a narrow crevice sliced through a mesa. Antelope canyon was formed by erosion of Navaho sandstone primarily through flash flooding. This place is a popular location for photographers and sightseers and the most visited slot canyon in the south-west due to its accessibility and partly to publicity. Make sure your camera is charged before your visit. You can purchase admission tickets to Antelope Canyon and pick them up at the entry.
4. Horseshoe Bend
Another masterpiece by mother nature, Horseshoe Bend is a horse-shoe shaped meander of the Colorado river located near the town of Page. You have to hike 3/4 of a mile out to the canyons edge to see this stunning view. It is quite a trek with some ups and downs and deep sand but we promise it's worth it. And whatever you do don't let your kids get too close to the edge!
